Mrs. John A. Stadtmueller Died This Morning at McDonald Hospital.
Mrs. John Stadtmueller passed away this morning at 6 o'clock at the John McDonald hospital, following a severe Illness of two weeks with embolism in her left leg. The leg was amputated last Saturday morning with the hope that the operation might prolong her life. Surgeons found, however, that the disease had continued too long a time and that the end was inevitable.
The maiden name of Mrs. Stadtmueller was Anna Elise Brockens. She was a daughter of the late John and Mina (nee Sathoff) Brockens, and was born in Hesel, Friedeburg, Ostfriesland, Germany, April 16, 1885. Shortly after her birth, she was baptized by her pastor, Rev. Debur, at Repshold, Germany. She immigrated to the United States with her parents In 1887 and the family settled in Wayne township. When a young woman she was duly Instructed in the fundamentals of the Christian faith as taught by the Evangelical Lutheran church. Instruction was given her by Rev. C. Mardorf, who later officiated at her confirmation, March 31, 1899. According to her present pastor, Rev. G. Wolf, Mrs. Stadtmueller clung to the faith she confessed on her confirmation day until the last moments of her life. She was also strengthened by the administration of the holy communion.
Her marriage to John A. Stadtmueller of Castle Grove township occurred in 1903. This union was indeed a happy one, and was blessed with the birth of three sons, Edward, of Castle Grove township, and Clarence and Arthur who still live at home. In addition to her husband and children, Mrs. Stadtmueller is survived by her mother, Mrs. John Brockens, two sisters, Mrs. L. C. Stadtmueller of Castle Grove township, and Mrs. John T. Fechtmann of Wayne township. Funeral services will be held next Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the family home, and thereafter at St. Peter and Paul's Lutheran church. Rev. G. Wolf, Mrs. Stadtmueller's pastor, will have charge of the services, and will be assisted by Rev. G. Willms, pastor of Zion's Lutheran church of Wayne township. Burial will be made In Prairie Hill cemetery in Castle Grove.
