Fredrika Wilhmina "Reka" Oehlbeck

Mrs. Fredericka Schmidt of Wyoming, while visiting in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris Eiben in this city, last Monday accidentally fell and fractured her left hip. badly. Mrs. Schmidt was taken to the John McDonald hospital for immediate care. She is coming along nicely, and is 76 years old.

Mrs. Fredericka Schmidt, formerly of Wyoming, died last night in Monticello, after a lingering illness, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs; Chris Eiben.
Mrs. Schmidt was born Fredericka Oehlbeck on December 14, 1853 in Provinz Brandenburg, Germany, where she was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran church. She was married to Fredrick Schmidt in 1873 in Germany, and came to this country 60 years ago, with two small children.
After they moved to the United States, Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt lived in and near Wyoming until 1914, when Mr. Schmidt died. Mrs. Schmidt continued to live in Wyoming until 12 years ago, when she moved to Monticello to live with her daughter, Mrs. Eiben. There were 10 children in the family: Gottlieb, Karl, August, Willie, Fred, John, Mrs. John Bahnk, Wyoming; Mrs. John Michels, Aledo, Ill. ; Albert Schmidt, Onslow; and Mrs. Chris Eiben, Monticello. Surviving are 27 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Services will be at the Wyoming Lutheran church tomorrow.
