Historical Society; Frankfort, KY. Elisha Hawkins was the son of William Hawkins and Elizabeth Wall born about 1752 in Orange County, VA. He married; 1st Elizabeth Edwards, the daughter of Uriah Edwards and Mildred Head of Spotsylvania, County, VA. before 1781; 2nd Rachel Scandland 24 Jul 1820 by Reverend William Hickman, Jr. Elisha died in Nov 1833 in Franklin County, KY.
Biographical sketch: Elisha enlisted in the Regular Army in 1776 under Captain Captain Francis Taylor. He served for two years and belonged to the 2nd Virginia Continental Regiment. He was discharged at Valley Forge. Elisha and Elizabeth had 4 children: Elisha, Moses, Frances and John Carlostin. Elisha moved to KY. and it is thought that Elizabeth did not accompany them. It is not known if she died or just didn't want to leave VA. Elisha married Rachel Scandlund in KY. where he lived before 1796 on Dry Run in Franklin, County, KY. (Farmer, p. 25).
