Hans Joist Hite / Heydt
( - 1760/61)
The Joist Hite of Valley of Virginia fame. He purchased in 1731 the warrant for 40,000 acres that John and Isaac Van Meter had obtained from the House of Burgess. He added another warrant of 100,000 acres and brought in the settlers to that area.
Zara married John Hite; Eleanor married Isaac Hite; and Rebecca Van Meter, daughter of Isaac Van Meter, married Abraham Hite. These were three of the eight children of Hans Joost and Anna Maria (Du Bois) Heydt.
