"In July, 1860, Rowena was married to John C. Wilson; the next spring they moved to Iowa, and the following fall he volunteered and enlisted in the 2d Iowa cavalry, and she went his father's in New Brighton Penn., to stay whilst he was in the army. The next May, 1862, he was shot and instantly killed by the rebels. She had a son born April 17th, just three weeks before her husband was killed. "
