Accidents on Highways
Various local garages today showed exhibits of more or less banged up cars due to accidents yesterday and last night. The more serious doubtless was that suffered by Miss Eleanor Moehring of Sunnyvale, aged about 17, when the car in which she was returning home with friends endeavored to avoid collision with a horse last night on the highway near Aptos. The horse had run in front of the car. Miss Moehring was taken to Hanly hospital where the main injury was found to be to an eye.

Victim of Auto Crash May Lose Part of Sight
Sunnyvale, May 9. --- Miss Eleanor Moehring met with a painful accident Sunday while on an outing at Santa Cruz, which may cost the loss of the sight of one eye.
While she and her companion were motoring near the Surf City a runaway horse was seen rushing wildly toward them. An approaching machine of one side and a high bank on the other made it impossible to swerve from the impending crash. The horse plunged into the machine, partially wrecking the front end of the car and splintering the windshield. A sliver of flying glass entered Miss Moehring's eye. She was rushed to a Santa Cruz hospital for treatment, where it was learned that her eye was badly and perhaps permanently injured. She is now under the care of specialists.
A queer feature of the mishap was that neither of the occupants of the machine received so much as a scratch from the flying glass.
