[newspaper clipping, probably from a Tacoma Newspaper April 1968]
In a letter written April 25, 1970, Olive Dewitt Prouty says, " Lafe didn't feel equal to going back for the services [sister Minna's death]. He is still grieving over Nellie's death, two years ago. He did visit with Nancy [Birch] in Louisville in Sept. and saw Minn three of four times then. She led a sad, lonely life since the death of two children, one, an infant, Pamela - pardon me, Marcella age twelve. I have told you that she drank polluted stream water at a Fourth of July picnic. Then her husband passed away in 1949."
