Wayne County, NC - Cemeteries From the book, "Gravestone Inscriptions" ======================================================Cemetery number 449 was located on the property of Norwood Smith's heirs, about 2 miles from Grantham Crossroads and on State Road 1006. The cemetery has been ploughed over and any trace of tombstones or markers has been obliterated. An old black man witnessed the destruction and reported it. Believed to be buried there are: Solomon Grantham, died 1844. (Date of Probate of his Will) His wife, Ann Barfield Grantham Possibly his father Joshua Grantham and his wife Pherbia (thought to have been a Herring) Grantham. There are possibly others, but no record of them.
