Marriage
Selects May 31 as Wedding DateThe approaching marriage of Miss Ramona Heiken and Abbott Mayer, both of Cedar Rapids, is announced by the bride-elects' father, Ernest Heiken of Coggon. Mr. Mayer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Mayer of Mt. Union.
The wedding will take place May 31 at Peace Lutheran Church at Ryan. Miss Heiken is employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and her fiance is employed by Collins Radio Company.
Ramona Heiken Wed To A. Mayer
Miss Ramona Heiken and Abbott F. Mayer, both of Cedar Rapids, were married Saturday afternoon in a double ring ceremony performed in Peace Lutheran church in Ryan. The Rev. L. R. Lechner officiated. The bride is the daughter of Ernest Heiken of Coggon and Mr. Mayer's parents are Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Mayer of Mt. Union. The couple will live at 329 Fifth avenue SW. Mrs. Mayer is employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and Mr. Mayer is employed by Collins Radio Company. He is a graduate of Iowa State college.
Death
Ramona H. Mayer, 63, of 925 15th Ave., Marion, died Wednesday in her home after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Murdoch Chapel, Marion, where friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial: Peace Lutheran Cemetery near Ryan.Surviving is her husband, Abbott.
Also surviving are an aunt, Emma Heiken of Monticello; several cousins and many near and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father and an infant sister.
Born Nov. 7, 1928, in Monticello to Ernest and Johanna Balster Heiken, she married Abbott F. Mayer on May 31, 1952, in Ryan. She was an active member of several philanthropic and social organizations, including P.E.O., O.O.P., Embroidery Guild of America and Four Score. her hobbies included embroidery, teaching embroidery, golf and bridge.
