Lucile Anna Freese July 22, 1917 to April 10, 2006Lucile Freese, age 88, of Monticello, formerly of Scotch Grove, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Monticello following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Friday morning April 14, 2006 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church with interment in the Wayne Zion Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 until 8 Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Rev. Eugene Schipper will officiate at the services. Surviving are 3 children, Dorothy (Roger) Schaefer, Boulder, Colorado, Gerald (Judy) Freese, Monticello, Byron Freese, Scotch Grove. 6 Grandchildren, 4 step-Grandchildren, and 16 great-Grandchildren, 1 brother, Maynard (Donna) Siebels, Anamosa. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her husband, Edwin, 4 Brothers, LeRoy, Louis, Wesley and Harvey , and a grandson, Sean Freese. Lucile Anna Siebels was born July 22, 1917, in Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Carl and Anna Zimmerman, Siebels. She received her education in the Jackson County Township schools. Lucile Anna Siebels and Edwin Tobe Freese were married April 23, 1940 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. Lucile and Edwin farmed in the Scotch Grove Township until retiring from active farming in 1981. Lucile had been a lifelong member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church where she Baptized August 29, 1917 and Confirmed her faith on April 9, 1933. She taught Sunday School and was a member of the quilting group, Sara Circle and was the church Historian. She had also been a member of the Jones County Historical Society and had been active in Farm Bureau.
