MONTICELLO…..Funeral services for Mrs. Carl J. (Marie) Freese, 70, are to be held this afternoon (Thursday) at 1:30 o’clock at Wayne Zion Lutheran church. The Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson will officiate. Interment will be in Wayne Zion cemetery.
Mrs. Freese died at John McDonald hospital Monday evening after several weeks illness. She was born near Monticello Feb. 6, 1899, the daughter of Herman and Lena Folkers Rickels. She received her early education in Wayne township schools.
She married Carl G. Freese Feb. 5, 1920, at Monticello, and the couple had always farmed in Wayne Township.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Henry. Survivors include her husband; two children, Mrs. Robert W. (Lena) Dirks of Anamosa and Raymond T. of Monticello; seven grandchildren; two brothers, George E. of Monticello and John of Delmar.
Also a sister, Mrs. Carl Weber of Central City and her stepmother, Mrs. Sadie Rickels of Monticello.
Casket bearers are Alva Freese, Elmer Osterkamp, Lou8is Rickels, Edwin Freese, Henry Rickels and Howard Emerson.
