Individual Details
Donald Dee Duval
(4 Dec 1925 - 11 Mar 2013)
In 1920 Louis Albert Duval married Adah Myrle Lane. On December 4, 1925 that had their only child, Donald Dee Duval, my father. My father did not find out about his father’s other family until his father passed away. My father told me once that he took a trip to Phoenix and visited a gas station where he believed he saw his half brother. He said the resemblance to his father was uncanny. Instead of introducing himself he just asked for directions and left.
Donald Dee Duval was born December 25, 1925 in Laplata, Missouri. He served in the Air force during WW2, then joined the reserves to help fund his college expenses. He was called back into the Air force during the Korean war. He eventually got a bachelors degree in electrical engineering. He was hired by Bendix and moved to Maryland. There he met my mother, Joan Hart and they were married in 1953. They have 5 kids, Joan Michele Duval – born December 31,1954; John Douglas Duval – born November 30, 1957; Susan Marie Duval – born January 1, 1960; Sharon Lynn Duval – born August 19, 1965; and Thomas Scott Duval – born July 11, 1966. While working at Bendix he earned a Masters degree in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins. I remember helping type his thesis when I was a little girl. In 1976 my father was worried about getting laid off, so took a transfer with the Oceanics Division of Bendix in Sylmar, California. We lived in California for many years. My parents moved back to Maryland about 10 years ago. They have 11 grandchildren, 9 grandsons and 2 grandaughters. Four of their grandsons carry the Duval name.
