SCOTCH GROVE….Mrs. Harry H. (Johanna G) Kuhns, 68, rural Scotch Grove, died at her farm home Saturday, March 26, from a heart attack. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from Wayne Zion Lutheran church, rural Monticello, with the Rev. Luther Wachholz officiating. Burial was made at Wayne Zion cemetery.
Mrs. Kuhns was born May 13, 1897 in Wayne Township, near Monticello, the daughter of Gerd and Johanna Wilken Harms. She attended the rural schools of Jones County. She was married may 26, 1915 to Harry H. Kuhns of Scotch Grove. They have always farmed near Scotch Grove. She was a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Maxine in 1920, a son Maynard in 1953 and her parents.
Survivors include her husband; one son, LaVern of Scotch Grove; one daughter, Mfrs. Cecil (Eloise) McKinstry of Lafayette, Calif.; nine grandchildren, and one brother, George H. Harms of Monticello.
Pallbearers included Henry C. Sheer, Ervin Wilken, Herman F. Harms, Harm Schatz, Carl Dirks and Herman Scheer.
