Dewey Rhatigan Takes Over Clarence Drug Store
Dewey Rhatigan of Monticello has taken over the management of a drug store at Clarence, which is a town on the Lincoln highway of approximately 800 population. Mr. Rhatigan is a graduate of the Monticello high school and also the Des Moines college of pharmacy. He completed his work in the latter institution in 1927. He had the honor of passing the examinations of the state board of pharmacy with the highest grades in his class, and also with the highest average of any student who had ever taken the state pharmacy examinations. Mr. Rhatigan has been in the Fred J. Kay drug store during portions of the past nine years. He was succeeded in this position in that store by Donald Serbousek.

The Monticello (Iowa) Express, June 26, 1930Wedding of Edna Eilers And Dewey Rhatigan
The marriage of Miss Edna Eilers, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Eilers, to Dewey Rhatigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rhatigan took place last Saturday morning at the home of Rev. Leonard Duckett, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. The wedding was a complete surprise to the immediate relatives and friends of both Mr. and Mrs. Rhatigan. The bride and bridegroom were attended by Miss Margaret Eilers, a sister of the bride and Leslie Read, a friend of Mr. Rhatigan.
Although the ceremony was intended to be a very private affair, the news leaked out from somewhere, early Saturday morning, and several of Mr. Rhatigan's friends dropped in to witness the ceremony at the Duckett home just as it began.
Mrs. Rhatigan in the past few years has been employed as a milliner in the Belle Devlin shop in this city and in similar shops in Cedar Rapids and Sac City.
Mr. Rhatigan is a graduate of the Monticello high school and of the college of pharmacy of Des Moines university, finishing in the latter place with of the highest averages ever recorded in that institution. At present he is proprietor of a drug store at Clarence, which he recently purchased. Mr. and Mrs. Rhatigan will be at home in Clarence after July 1. They left immediately after the wedding for a two weeks' trip through Wisconsin and Michigan.
