Prouty, George Cyrus, retired mfr.: b. Spencer, Mass., May 17, 1835" s. Cyrus and Sarah (Bride) Prouty, and descendant of Richard Prouty, Scituate, Mass., 1667; pub. sch. den.: m. 1860, Emma, d. John and Sarah (Fox) Hindley: 1 son, Nelson Hindley, b. North Hadley, May 11, 1865. Worked at manufacture of boots and wire, in factories of Winchester' established a wire factory at North Hadley, Mass., 1864: remove to Charlton City, 1871, where he erected the Charlton City Wire Mills (Prouty Wire Works), of which was prs., continuing until Feb., 1904, when he sold out and retired. Republican. Address: Charlton City, Mass.
