THE MONTICELLO EXPRESS….DECEMBER 20, 1945…PAGE 1Funeral For Henry Monk To Be Saturday
Funeral services for Henry Monk, 82, who died at his home Wednesday morning, will be held Saturday afternoon. Rites will be observed at 1 p.m. at the family home at 419 N. Maple St., Monticello, and at 1:45 p.m. at the Wayne Zion Lutheran church. The Rev. F. H. Kehren will be in charge of the services. Burial will be in the Zion cemetery. Mr. Monk had been in ill health
for the past 2 months.
Born in Blohnhund, Germany, Nov. 9, 1863, Henry Monk came to this country in the year 1888. All of his life had been spent in this community. He had been a farmer until he retired 15 years ago.
Dec. 12, 1892, he was married to Maggie Siebels in Castle Grove by Rev. C. Mardorf. Surviving are his wife, 5 sons, 6 daughters, 28 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother, John Monk, Ceney, Kan., Mrs. Henry Grusing, Bazine, Kan., and Mrs. Margaret Tyuden, Germany, are still living. Living sons and daughters are as follows: Mrs. Eilert Prull, Monticello; Mrs. William Rickels, Monticello; Mrs. Fred Blohm, Monticello; Mrs. Carl Brockhohn, Anamosa; Mrs. Clifford Soper, Anamosa; Mrs. Fred Ahrenholtz, Monticello;
Henry, Wyoming; August, Anamosa; John, Monticello; Conrad, Langworthy, and George, U.S.
army. Six grandsons will act as pall bearers at the funeral.
