Death
Peter Jacque, Sr. passed away at the home of his son, Frank Jacque, in Monticello, last Sunday, October 26, at 1:15 a.m. He had been ill for some weeks with intestinal cancer, and during the last eight weeks of his life was bedridden. Mr. Jacque was born in Hogansburg, Franklin county, New York, in 1845. Therefore when he passed away he had nearly reached the threshhold of his 80th year. He was married in 1863, to Miss Katherine Lerue. There were four children born to this marriage: Mrs. Mary Wilson of Hopkinton; Frank Jacque of Monticello, and Peter and Joseph Jacque of Cedar Rapids. Mr. and Mrs. Jacque enjoyed sixty-one years of married life. Mr. Jacque settled in Iowa four years after his marriage, in 1867, and had resided in this state since that time. Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jacque last Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Final services wre held at Oakwood cemtery where the body was buried. Both services were in charge of Rev. Albert E. Coe, the pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church. The following people from out of town were present at the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wheeler and Mr.s and Mrs. Ben Turner of Masonville; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jacque, and Peter Jacque and son Clarence of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. George Lane and Lawrence Wheeler of Manchester.[Monticello Express, October 30, 1924]
