Dirk and Maria (Jacobs) Dirks. They followed their son to this country in 1880 but after about four years sojourn here returned to their native land. There in 1887 the mother died and in the summer of the same year the father came again to the United States, making his home with his children. Mr. Dirk Dirks, an aged German who has been a resident of this vicinity for many years, died of heart disease, last Tuesday morning,at the home of his son, Henry Dirks, near Amber. Mr. Dirks, who was 77 years old at the time of his death, was a native of Friedeburg, Province of Hanover, Germany. He came to this county with his family about 20 years ago. Ten years later he returned to the Father-land with his wife who was blind. The death of the wife occurred two years later, and Mr. Dirks then returned to America. The deceased leaves four children who are Mrs. Marie Wennekamp, Mrs. Tina Harms, Dammann Dirks and Henry Dirks. The funeral services were conducted at the Wayne church, yesterday afternoon, by Rev. Lutz of Castle Grove.
