Milwaukee Employee
Kammerman is a retired employee of tho C. M, St. P. and P. Railroad, for whom he worked for 32 years and is now on pension from that company. He worked for many years with John Wenger as his foreman and the late. E. J. Drury as road master. He enjoyed his work and was always counted a faithful and conscientious employee, working with a group of men who maintained the roadway in this section.
The Milwaukee railroad has always taken great pride in its longtime employees. This is the reason it maintains a pension system to care for these men after they have reached an age when they cannot continue heavy work.

Kammerman was born March 20, 1807, at Whittmund, Lerbave, Germany. He emigrated to the United States with his parents, Henry and Rena Kammerman, in 1883. At this time, he was 16 years of age. The family settled at Monticello.
Mrs. Kammerman was born in the same neighborhood in Germany and came to America June 19, 1880, with her brother, Gerd Schmidt, also settling in Monticello. Mr. and Mrs. Kammerman were married at St, John's Lutheran church (Sand Hill) Dec. 18,1893, The marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. Fritz von Strohe, who was at that time pastor of the church.

Following their marriage they went to housekeeping on a farm in Scotch Grove township where they continued to live until 1902. At that time they moved to Monticello where they have since lived, and Kammerman later started work for the Milwaukee Road.
Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs Kammerman, three of whom died in infancy. The surviving children are Harvey Kammerman of Greeley, Mrs. Ambrose Kelly and Bernhard Kammerman of Monticollo.
