MONTICELLO
The funeral of George H. Harms 66, will be held this morning (Wednesday) at 11 o'clock in the Wayne Zion Lutheran
church with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson will officiate.
Mr. Harms, a lifetime resident of Monticello, died Sunday afternoon, August 20at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids.
He was born in Wayne township on June 5, 1912, to Gerd and Louise Wilkens Harms. He received his early education in the Wayne township school and graduated from Monticello high school in 1931.
On June 20, 1934, he married Evelyn R. Rieken and the couple farmed in Wayne township until Dec. 13, 1975, when they moved to Monticello.
Along with his farming activities, Mr. Harms had been affiliated with Farm Bureau Insurance sales, the Jones county ASC office, was Farmers Union field representative; the National Farm Organization field representative and recently was territorial manager of Wonder Life Corp
Surviving are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Phillip (LaVonne) Owen, Lisbon and two grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters.
Casket bearers were LaVern Kuhns, William Rieken, Thomas Rieken, Kevin Marshall, George Folkerts and Ervin Poppe.
