Services were held Monday, Dec. 16, at 1:30 p.m. for Tobias Folkers, 80,who died in John McDonald hospital here Friday, Dec.13, after a brief illness. Services were conducted by Rev. Arnold Schlueter at St. Matthew Lutheran church. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery.
Mr. Folkers was born Mar 5, 1877, the son of Harm and Maria Tobiason Folkers. He married Katharina Rickels Mar. 8, 1900, and they farmed in Wayne Township until moving to Monticello 29 years ago. His wife preceded him in death Nov. 27, 1954. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran church.
He is survived by one son. H.W.G. Folkers of Scotch Grove; one daughter, Mrs. Merle (Edna) Jacbbsen of Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one brother, Herman Folkers of Anamosa. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
