Folkerts Family Reunion Sunday at State Park
A family reunion of the Folkerts families was held at the Anamona State Park Sunday. Those in attendance were:

John Folkerts Dies SundayFuneral Services Held Today
John Eilers Folkerts, 68, a respected resident of Wayne township, died at the John McDonald hospital Sunday evening, January 10, at 7:30 p.m. He suffered a stroke January 10, which contributed to his death. Funeral services were held today, short services at the Goettsch funeral home and further services at 1:30 at Zion Lutheran church in Wayne township. Rev. F. H. Kehren, Lutheran minister, had charge of both services. Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
The pallbearers at the funeral were nephews of Mr. Folkerts: George Folkerts, Gerd Andreesen, Harvey Helgens, Bennie Tobiason, Marvin Stahlberg, and Lyle Tobiason.
Folkerts was born April 18, 1875, at Leerhafe, Ostfriesland, Germany, a son of Gerhard and Alma Hayen Folkerts. He came to the United States from Germany in 1892 and was married to Katherine Tobiason April 3, 1902, in the Wayne Zion Lutheran church by Rev. G. Mardorf, former pastor of that church.
Survivors of Folkerts are his wife, and the following sons and daughters, Pfc. Lloyd Folkerts, now serving with the United States forces in Australia, Elmer Folkerts, Esther and lola Folkerts at home. He is also survived by two brothers, Henry Folkerts of Willmar, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Alfred Folkerts of Monticello. Folkerts was secretary of the German Mutual Fire insurance Association of Monticello and had held this position for eleven years. Folkerts was a life-long member of the Lutheran church.
