Descendant of Maj. Peter Harwood and of Peter Harwood, Jr., of Massachusetts.
Daughter of Peter Harwood, Jr., and Elizabeth Airmet, his wife.
Granddaughter of Peter Harwood and Phebe Prouty, his wife.
Peter Harwood commanded a company at Bunker Hill and was captured at White Plains while defending a bridge which he was ordered to abandon. In the court martial his action was justified. He was promoted to major, 1778, and was officer of the day at the execution of André. He was born at Littleton, Mass., 1740, and died in Delaware, 1805.
Peter Harwood, Jr., served with his father. He died at Spencer, 1836, aged seventy-one.

Peter Harwood, (1740-1805), was at the battle of Bunker Hill and was captured at White Plains while defending a bridge which he was ordered to abandon. He was court-martialed for disobeying orders, but was exonerated by the court. He held the rank of major, 1778, and was officer of the day at the execution of Andre.
