Richarde Proute
(Bef 22 Apr 1621 - Bef 27 Dec 1703)
Definite proof that Richard Prouty of Scituate, Plymouth Colony's father is Richard Prout does not exist, but research done but CH Pope and others shows a very strong probability of who his parents were and when and where he was born, so I will assume so also until further research comes to light. At that time, the spelling "Prouty" was not found in England, however; the forms Prout, Proute, Proud, Proude, Prowte, and Prowde are. Prouty is plainly a derivative from one of these.
