Individual Details

Dr. Armel F. Adair

(Abt 1812 - 1853)

son of Zadock Adair.

From Norma W. Anderson's research -
According to the Bureau of Land Management website -
Armel F. Adair received land patents in MS. of 17 pieces of land in different counties. He owned land in Lauderdale Co. which is where it's said he married. He also owned land in Attala, Oktibbeha and in Winston Co. where the Barfields lived he owned 557.34 acres dated Feb. 27, 1844 in Township 15N, Range 11E, Section 28. This is a lot of land. He is also listed in the land deed index for Winston Co. where he sells some of that land.
He is listed as receiving a land patent in Perry Co., Ala. 12 Sept. 1835, 40 acres in Township 17N, Range 6E, Sec. 31 This is in the same area that Lewis Barfield lived. Lewis' land is in Township 16N, Range 6E, Sec. 31, 12 Aug. 1834.
If he received land in Alabama in 1835, Eliza Jane would only be 11 years of age. He might have been married before he married Eliza.
As I said before Armell F. Adair had a lot of land in different counties of MS. including over 500 acres in Winston Co. where the Barfields also lived. Here are a couple of deeds I found.

NOTE: the amount of money involved. No amount of acreage listed but he owned over 500 acres in Winston Co. Ewing K. Adair could be his brother and Leach could be related, I just don't know.

28 Feb. 1838
A. F. Adair of KEMPER CO. to Lankford Coley of Mobile, Ala. for the sum of $1.00 sold land in Winston Co., Township 15, Range 11E of 80 acres in Sec. 28 NOTE: 80 acres for only $1.00? Is Coley a relative and that is why such a small amount?
