"Jonas Deane was in Scituate 1690. He undoubtedly came from Taunton in England, as he is frequently styled Taunton Deane. He first possessed the land on the west of the brook now [1831] called Taunton Deane Brook. His house was near where stands taht of late John Daman. His children were Thomas born 1691, and Ephraim 1694."
