LEXINGTON Stephen "Steve" Earl Prouty, 55, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001.The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Miss.
Arrangements were made by Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel.

LEXINGTON - Mr. Stephen "Steve" Earl Prouty, 55, of Enterprise Road diedat 7:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Miss., with the Rev. Ed Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Natchez-Trace Memorial Park in Ridgeland. He was bornAug. 15, 1946, in Jackson, Hinds County, Miss., the son of Austin Stephen Prouty and Florence Coker Prouty. He was retired but previously worked with Graylyn International Conference Center. Prior to this, he worked as a printer for Mississippi DOT and Bill's Institutional Commissary. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome. He was a former member of Old Town Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. For more than 20 years he was a member of First Baptist Church of Ridgeland, where he served as a deacon. Also, he was a charter member of Ridgeland Lions Club and was past vice president. He was preceded in death by his father, who diedin 1993. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Smith Prouty, of the home; and his mother, Florence Coker Prouty, of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family.
