Sarah Mathewes, wife of John of St. Andrews Parish , Berkeley Planter, 10 September 1746 to ELIZABETH MATHEWES of Charles Town, widow, town lot or both of John Mathewes bequeathed to him by will of his father, Anthony Mathewes, late of this province, merchant deceased, fronting SW on Tradd Street which had then been part of a house wherein Robert Randall then lived.

E. on a line north and south - then draw from the said land of John Bee to Tradd St. and all that part of 2 town lots of him the said John Mathewes which was therefore sold to him by James Mathewes late of this province, merchant deceased and the said Elizabeth Mathewes his then wife known in plat of town as 24 to 25 and said lot measuring north to south 16 feet and east to west 50 feet, being back land bounding

which piece of land were contiguous together with the brick house then standing and which was built and erected by the said John Mathewes and in which FRANCIS HOLMES, merchant at theat time lived. Recorded January 22, 1746.
