Individual Details

The Lockharts were shipbuilders...Jacob and Jonathan. The Ship 'Habitant' was launched in 1885 and built in the Lockhart shipyard. It was the largest of the Lockharts' vessels...being 213 feet keel and with a registered tonnage of 1,692. She was registered in Windsor, NS in 1864.

Other ships built by the Lockharts included:
'Queen of Scots', 'Mayflower', and 'Modens';
ships built by Abraham C. Ells: 'Avon', 'Bluebird', and 'Bremen'.

Other ships were also built in the Lockhart Shipyard by other builders...including the 'Huntley', a four-masted Schooner of 600 gross tons...built in 1918...by Harris Thorpe.

The 'Reward', a Schooner of 75 tons was built in 1890 by Harman Newcombe and was commanded by Capt. George Loveless.
