Ruth Eilers Oct. 12, 1909 -Aug. 23, 1997
Funeral services for Ruth E. Eilers, 87,were held Monday, Aug. 25, 1997 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello with burial in the Scotch Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Al Polito officiated at the services.
Ruth Eilers of Noelridge Manor, Cedar Rapids, and formerly of Monticello and Scotch Grove, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.
Ruth Ellen Nelson was born Oct. 12, 1909 at Center Junction, the daughter of Charles and Margaret Serbousek Nelson. She was a graduate of the Center Junction High School.
On June 25, 1931, she married Irving H. Eilers at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. The couple farmed the Nelson family farm in Scotch Grove Township until Irvin's death, March 20, 1981.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret (Robert) Thoeni of Monticello; two grand-daughters, Janine (Eric) Wahl of Monticello, Janda (Lorenzo) Canalis of Mt. Berry, Ga., and three great-grandchildren, Ian Canalis, Amy Canalis and Matthew Wahl. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband
