The George Peters pool hall was closed by the city officials last Tuesday morning for a two day period. It was alleged that the pool hall was a nuisance, and that the closing was in the way of punishment. It seems there was a good deal of loud talking in the pool hall last Saturday night which ended in a fight. Such affairs have continued to a point where it ought to be necessary to make at the approaching city election a determined effort to see that officials are put into office who will make a continuous effort at enforcing the law. This is only one incident. There are many others that might be recounted

According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, L. F. Reid, who has been conducting a pool room at Marion, will have to close the doors of his pool room February 1. It seems that the mayor of the town refuses to re-issue a license on account of the fact that Manager George Peters allowed minors to play in the pool room. Peters formerly ran a pool hall in Monticello which was close by Mayor Maurice for the same reason.
