Death

William Baumann, 81, of Monticello, died Wednesday November 7, 2007 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 Saturday morning, at the Peace United Church of Christ, Monticello. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 Friday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Pastor Peter Wenzel will officiate the service. Surviving is his wife, Dorothy, a son James (Lynda Walleck) Cedar Rapids, 2 daughters, Sharon Baumann, Dubuque, Carol Baumann, Monticello, 4 Grandchildren and 1 great-Grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister and 2 half-brothers.
William Peter Baumann was born August 25, 1926 in Castle Grove Township, Jones County, Iowa. He was the son of Peter and Emma Schneiter, Baumann. He received his education in the rural schools near his home. William P. Baumann and Dorothy Hinrichs were married on October 24, 1950 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. Willie operated a cream route for the Farmers Mutual Creamery in Monticello. He was also employed at the Sinclair Station operated by Ray Coyle for 12 years and then 14 years while it was owned by K &P Chevrolet . Willie then worked at K & P Chevrolet until he retired. He then did automotive service work at his home. Willie was also a bus driver for the Monticello Community Schools for 18 years. He was a life long member of the Peace United Church of Christ where he had been a trustee and a deacon. He had also belonged to the Jaycees and the Conservation League.
