R. H. Balster Figured In Car Accident, Aug. 15 (1934)

Robert II . Balster, farm implement dealer in Monticello, was the victim of an automobile accident on the Cedar Rapids road last Wednesday evening. He was enroute home from that town, and suddenly encountered a a car turned crossways of the road. In order to avoid hitting it, he pulled to the right and crashed into a guard rail . The result was that the radiator of his Pontiac car was crushed, the engine torn from its mountings and pushed back so the belts were all torn loose from the universal joint. The right front fender was also jammed, but the body of the car was apparently not damaged. Mr. Balster kept hold of the steering wheel, and this was bent forward some six inches when the impact occurred. He escaped uninjured aside from a cut on his forehead and bruises about his eyes.
It seems that the car turned crossway on the road belonged to a farmer . This car had collided with a film truck from Clinton, which was forced into the ditch and turned upside down. No one in either of the three cars was materially injured.
