Christopher Scheer

Christopher Scheer, farmer, Sec. 3; P.O. Monticello; born in Germany in 1841; came to Jones Co. in 1861; owns 160 acres; was in the war of the rebellion, a member of the Marine Artillery of Illinois; enlisted in the fall of 1862; discharged in 1863. Wife's maiden name was Angle Rasted, a native, also, of Germany; they were married in 1863; have had ten children, eight of whom are living - Mary Rasted, Charlie, Adam, Margaret, Henry, August, Matilda and August; two of these children of his wife, who had been married before, and these children resulted from that marriage; those dead were named Emma and Annie. Mr. Scheer and his entire family are in the Lutheran Church. He is a Republican. One daughter is married and lives in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1873, Mr. Scheer was Road Supervisor of his town.

Death

Mrs. Augusta Norris was called to Langworthy on account of the death of her aged father, Chris Scheer, who passed away Friday night at the home of John Heyen. Mrs. Scheer, who has been in ill health for years, followed the husband and father in death Monday afternoon. Mrs. Norris' many friends sympathize with her in her bereavement.

The funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. C Scheer took place on Thursday afternoon of this week in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church. It is very seldom that sons and daughters are called upon to part with both parents at the same time, and much sympathy is expressed for them.
