Funeral services for Frederick Ernest Poppe were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Wayne Zion Lutheran church, rural Monticello. Interment was in Wayne Zion cemetery. The Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson officiated.
He was born in Cass township Sept. 29, 1905, the son of Heinrich and Ida Aegerter Poppe.
Mr. Poppe and Mary M. Fechtman were married Nov. 9, and farmed in the Anamosa and Monticello communities. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Winifred) Williams of Monticello; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Peter (Anna) Caspers of Anamosa and Mrs. Emma P. Kray of Monticello. Also two brothers, Emil of Amber and Carl of Anamosa. Casketbearers were Henry Caspers, Henry Poppe, Albert Kray, Leonard Moser, Johnnie Pegorick and Marvin Moenck.
