In Lake Co. Ohio in the probate court, I discovered the will of James Prouty. There was a handwritten will that read as follows:
I James Prouty herin proclaim my last will and testament. After the payment of all legal debts, I desire my property -both Personal and Real be divided as follows.
First - that William Lawrence, his son Carlton and daughter Nora must have One hundred dollars each.
Secondly, after deducting the above mentioned three hundred dollars from the estate the remaining property shall be divided into nine equal parts and distributed as follows, one part to my sister, Susan Hodges, one-part to the living children of my brother Ira, one part to the living children of my brother Alva, one part to the living children of my brother Luke, one part to the living children of my brother William, one part to the living children of my sister Rhoda, one part to the living children of my sister Clara (Clarissa), one part to the living children of my sister Sally, one part to the living children of my sister Almenia. It is my further request that Arthur Hodges be appointed Executor of this Instrument.
