Miss Edna Peters Guest of Honor At Surprise-Farewell Party.
Thirty-five relatives and friends attended the surprise farewell party given in honor of Miss Edna Peters Sunday night at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peters. The evening was spent in visiting, at the close of which refreshments were served by the hostesses, Miss Mabel McVay and Mrs. Herman Wolbern. Miss Peters left Tuesday for Chicago, Ill., where she will continue her work as a student nurse in the South Shore hospital, after spending two weeks' vacation in the home of her parents.

Former Local Girl Hurt In Accident
Broken Shoulder, Head and Akle Injuries; Condition Critical

Word was received this morning that Edna Peters, formerly of Monticello, who has been a nurse in Chicago for over a year, was seriously injured in an automobile accident between Savanna, Ill. and Preston, Iowa yesterday, while she was own her way to Monticello for Christmas. Miss Peters is in a Savanna hospital in a critical condition, the report said.
Miss Peters is a niece of Mrs. Del McVay of Monticello and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Peters, who live abort three miles from the city.
It was reported that Miss Peters was riding with a Mr. Stemmer of Chicago, but further information has not been receive about her escort. She sustained serious head and ankle injuries, and a broken shoulder. Hospital reports have not indicated whether or not there were internal injuries. Reports today said that she was still unconscious this morning.
Miss Peters lived in this vicinity until she went to Chicago several years ago to take nurse's training, and is well known here.
