He was born in Bostonville (which no longer exists) He married Loucetta Johnson Bickers 17 July 1889.While living in KY they had 3 children: William Wallace, Molly Beatrice and Alma Barnes. 3 more were born in Centerville MS where they moved in 1895-Emma Laura, Van Buren and Alice Lee. Heat, humidity and the threat of yelow fever sent them back to KY. where 2 more children were born. James Preston and Walker Burton. They moved to TX where 4 more children were born:Vivian Belle, Joel Farris, Woodrow Wilson, and Lilliam Blanch a grand total of 6 boys and 6 girls. They moved to Swisher County in 1917
Only 2 of their children settled in Swisher. Wallace and Woodrow. Joel J. died of a heart attack in 1934. His widow moved to Tulia while Woodrow ran her farm. She died in 1951 (Pearson, A. Find A Grave. 2009)
