August Siebels' Note Fiftieth Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. August Siebels, Monticello, observed their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, October 17. A dinner was held at noon for the immediate family. Open house was held from 2 to 5 p.m. Approximately 100 relatives and friends called on Mr. and Mrs. August Siebels in the afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Siebels were married October 17, 1898 at Wayne Zion Lutheran church, Monticello, by Rev. C. Mardorf. They are the parents of five children. Mrs. Herman Seehusen. Wyoming; Alva Siebels, Moline, Ill.; Mrs. Albert Spooner, Burlington, Iowa; Raymond C. Siebels, San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Fritz Loes, Cascade, Iowa. They have 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Raymond Siebels was the only one of the children absent for the occasion.
Mr. Siebels' only sister, Mrs. Gade Lambertus of Clinton, Okla,, was an out of town guest. Other guests attended from Cedar Rapids, Moline, Burlington, Wyoming, Central City, Olin, and Anamosa.

Death
August Siebels dies following extended illnessONSLOW — August Siebels died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Seehusen at Onslow, Saturday morning, July 7, after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, July 10, at 10:30 at the St. Matthew Lutheran church with Rev. Arnold Schlueter officiating and interment at Oakwood cemetery.
He was born Oct. 19, 1865, at Hafer, Germany, the son of John Siebels and Alta Ricklefs Siebels, and came to this country with his parents in 1871. He settled with his family in the Amber community and on Oct. 19, 1898, married Grace Margaret Oltmann. The couple lived at Amber where Mr. Siebels followed the blacksmith trade until 1910 when they moved to Monticello where Mr. Siebels engaged in the .implement business as well as the blacksmith trade.
Mr. Siebels was a charter member of the St. Matthew Lutheran church and the last survivor of his family which included his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; two sons, A. J. of Moline, Ill., and Raymond of San Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Herman (Elsie) Seehusen of Onslow, Mrs. Francis (Augusta) Spooner of Burlington and Mrs. Fred (Edna) Loes of Cascade; 17 grandchildren and 9 great grand-children.
Casket bearers were Gerhard Siebels, G. W. Gerdes, Henry Schafer, William Siebels, Alva Gerdes and Carl Gerdes.
