Arden Jones was the birth son of Rhoda Kilgore (sister of Rosa Kilgore Jones). Rhoda died in April of 1897 and Arden was born in March of 1897. He was raised by Veach and Rosa Jones and took their name.

Death

RITES HELD MONDAY FOR ARDEN JONES

Arden Pearl Jones, resident of this county for twenty years, and a World war veteran, passed away on Saturday at his home near St. Lawrence. Death followed a two-year illness.

Funeral services were held on day afternoon from the St. Lawrence Community church, and were conducted by Rev. N.A. Luke. Interment was made in the G.A.R. cemetery at Miller. Services at the grave were conducted by the American Legion posts from St. Lawrence and Wessington.

The deceased was born March 24, 1897 at Kent, Ia. He spent his boyhood days and attended school at Afton, Ia., and in 1919 was married to Ruth Harriet Blanchard at Creston, Ia.

Mr. Jones served in the World war, enlisting in September, 1918. He was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, three daughters and three sons, Mrs. Helen Van Zee of Miller, Thelma, Elsie, Edward, Darrel and Charles, all at home; his parents; two brothers and one sister, all of Afton, Ia. A number of other relatives and a host of friends.
