Miss Eliza Tietken Was Married This Afternoon
The marriage of Miss Eliza Tietken, daughter of Mr. Mrs. William Tietken of Lovell township occurred this afternoon at two o'clock, at St. Peter and Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church. At that time she was united in marriage to Dick Dirks, a young farmer living in the vicinity of Amber. The marriage was performed by Rev. Wolfe. The attendants at the wedding were Miss Freda Bohren. an intimate friend of the bride, and Alfred Dirks, a brother of the bridegroom. The bride was tastefully gowned in white crepe de chine. A wedding dance will be given in Amber this evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Dirks. They will make their home on a farm near Amber.

Death
DIEDRICK DIRCKSDiedrick "Dick" Dircks, 91, died Dec. 26, 1988 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a long illness.
He was born Oct. 6, 1897, in Jones County, the son of John Henry and Dothrina Schoon Dircks. Diedrick received his education in Jones County schools and worked as a farm hand and carpenter before his marriage.
July 19, 1928, he married Johanna Tieken and the couple farmed for many years in Jones County.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Olin and in earlier years served on the board of directors of the Amber Creamery.
Surviving him are two sons, Kenneth of Anamosa, and David of Olin; two daughters, Mrs. John (Elissa) Kemp of Center Point, and Rose Teek of Ainsworth; one sister Mary Bartels of Hopkinton; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife Johanna, he was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a grandson, six brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at St. John Lutheran Church in Olin, the Rev. Bill Peters officiating. Interment was in Prairie Hill Cemetery near Monticello.
Pallbearers were David Dircks, Gale VonBehren, Gene Lloyd, Darrell Woolison,Richard Ahrendsen, Ronald Tallman, Tom Behrle, and Robert Glenn. [Midland Times, Dec 29, 1988. p 9]
