This indenture made and entered into this 2nd day of September 1833 witnesseth that August M. Barrett, Clerk of the county of Edmonson by and with the consent of John Rountree, William Anderson, William Woosley, and R. G. Doyel, gentlemen justices now sitting has and do put and place acknowledge by these presents to put and place Josiah Jones, Joab Jones and William Jones, poor boys of the county aforesaid, agree this Josiah Jones age 10 years, 22 of June last; Joab 5 years the 18th of January last; and William Jones - 3 years the 5th of April last with James S. Jones until the said Josiah, Joab, and William reach the age of 21.Upon the motion of the parties now present in court. It is ordered that Josiah Jones aged 10 years the 22nd of June last, Joab Jones aged 5 years the 18th of January last, and William Jones aged 3 years the 5th of April last, the children of Rebecca Jones, be bound by the clerk of this court to James S. Jones until they severally arrive to the age of 21 years to learn the art and mastery of farming which indenture was signed and acknowledged by the parties and ordered to record. - Edmonson Co., KY Deed Book C, 02 Sep 1833, p203
