Mary m. bef 8 Apr 1767 William Brooks, Cordwainer (Lin. Co deed 2:208-9). He m (2) Vassalborough 29 May 1791 Catherine Tranior of Winslow (Vassalborough VR). On 12 Jun 1764, William Brooks "of the Kennebec, Yeoman," had a land grant of 100 acres on Lot #12 on the west side of the Kennebec River in Hallowell (Lin Co deed 2:131-32; James W. North, The History of Augusta from the first Settlement to the Present Time [1870], pp, 86, 95). He was poss the same William Brooks whose name appears on the muster rolls at Fort Richmond 1752-54 and at Fort Western 1754-58 and a relative of John Brooks, who likewise was stationed at Fort Western and res Winslow in 1790. If so, then he was prob at least 15-20 years older than Mary. On 19 Mar 1791, William Brooks Sr. (now called) of Vassalborough sold half of Lot # 81 on the west side of the Kennebec River to "my son William Brooks, Jr." (LIn Co deed 7:357) who, on 2 May 1793, res Winslow when he sold land in Sidney (ibid., 4:193) (Reynolds 146)
