Henry McCulloch Esq. of Fewghogue

( - 17 Feb 1728/29)

Walter Jameson McCulloch of Ardwell in A History of the Galloway Families of McCulloch says Henry the NC Secretary was the son of Henry, brother to James of Grogan, hence a cousin to his wife.
"...by his (James of Grogan) first marriage, he had a daughter who married her cousin, Henry McCulloch, son of Henry McCulloch of Randalston (the brother of James of Grogan). Henry McCulloch with his wife, whose Christian name is not known, emigrated to NC about 1719. He became Secretary of the Province and a Councilor and died in 1775 (Colonial Records of NC, Vol V, p 440). His son was Alexander McCulloch who was born in 1715, and was thus a young child when the family emigrated from Ireland to America. He settled in Halifax in North Carolina..."

A third name of interest in the indexes is Henry McCulloch Esq whose will was probated in Fewghoge, County Antrim in 1728. This gentleman could be the brother of James McCulloch of Grogan and the son of William McCulloch of Ranedlstown, since Iredell's genealogy mentions that James of Grogan had a brother named Henry.

He was also known as Henry McCulloch of Fewghoge Dec 1728 in Fewghoge, Upper Toome Barony, Antrim County, Northern Ireland [18]. He died 17 Feb 1728/29 in County Antrim Ireland
