Will

I, William Craig of the County of Perry and the State of Alabama, being of sound mind and disposing memory, do make and ordain and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form that is to say -

1st It is my will and desire that my body be decently interred, and that my funeral expenses be first paid in connection with all my just debts by my
Executor hereinafter named.

2nd I give and bequeath to my wife, Sarah Craig, the following negro slaves to wit - Minzo, Missurie and child Fanny all, and three children Anderson, Nick and Margaret and boy Alexander to have and hold forever.

3rd I further bequeath unto my wife, Sarah Craig, my gray horse and gray mule and the Jim Mule. Also the house and all the tract of land on which I now reside, to have and hold forever.

4th I further give and bequeath to my wife, Sarah Craig, her choice of one-half of my stock of cattle, all the hogs and sheep on the plantation. Also my cart and oxen. All the plantation tools and all the provisions onhand of every kind whatever, and the growing crop of cotton as may be necessary to furnish means for the payment of my just debts.

5th I give and bequeath to my daughter, Margaret McElroy,the following slaves, viz, girl named Mary and one named Jane to have and to hold forever, also Mary's three children, and one girl Lize.

7th I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Stevenson, the following slaves, viz - Grace and her three youngest children (viz) Andy and two younger to have and to hold forever.

8th I give and bequeath to my daughter, May Dobson, one negro slave Caroline, which she now has in her possession tohave and to hold forever.

9th I give and bequeath to my daughter, Nancy McKellar, onenegro girl named Ann to have and to hold forever.

10th I give and bequeath to my daughter, Celinda Boydston, one negro girl, viz, Tamer and one named Tilda to have and to hold forever.

11th It is my will and desire that my negro man, Harry, shall be valued by three interested persons and be allowed the privilege of selecting a master, that will give the valuation fixed by said persons and that Mariah and Charles be sold at public auction, on giving thirty days notice upon such credit as my Executor shall think best for the interest of the legatees. Also, one note on hand of Archibal McKellar for one thousand dollars - and the proceeds of the sale of said negroes and said note to be equally divided between my sons Allen Craig, Samuel Craig, Richard Craig and my daughters Mary Dobson, Nancy McKellar, Sarah Stevenson and Margaret McElroy, and that each shall share and share alike in the division of the property named in this section.

12th I further give and bequeath to my wife, Sarah Craig, and my son, William F. Craig, all the household and kitchen furniture equally between them and further I wish my wagon, gin mill, fan and thrasher and all blacksmith tools and the balance of stock of horses and cattle be sold and the proceeds to be equally divided between Sarah, my wife, and William F. Craig.

13th It is my will and desire that my wife, Sarah Craig, be my Executrix and James G. Evins, Executor, to carry into effect this my Last Will and Testament.

I do hereby declare this my Last Will and Testament revoking allother that may have been made heretofore.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed myseal on the 16th day of March A.D. 1850.

The second paragraph was intended to include the future and present increase of the negroes therein named - We theundersigned do hereby certify that the above amendment was made at the request of the testator Mr. William Craig. This 6th May A.D. 1851.
