Richard Wylly Habersham Jr.

(Abt 1812 - 28 Nov 1889)

Was an artist. (fact sheet from JTC) He painted the portrait of John Raven Mathewes which appears in the Colonial Dames Publication, "South Carolina Portraits". This was done about 1850. This is the same portrait that is presently in possession of David Andrew Mathewes II, and some of us have small photo copies.(Betty Brenner, Jean Ann Lemon, and John Ault III as far as I know). According to David, Sr. there are bullet holes in the portrait.
