Individual Details

Elijah Creed Sr.

(1750 - Sep 1829)

About 1776, Elijah married Mary Rucker of North Carolina. They moved back and forth between Virginia and North Carolina, and their four known children were born either in Virginia or North Carolina.

October 16, 1779, Elijah Creed petitioned for land in Boonsboro, Virginia (later part of Madison County, Kentucky).

1788 to 1789, he paid taxes in Fayette County, Virginia (later Fayette County, Kentucky). From 1790 to 1824, Elijah and Mary lived at Clear Creek, Woodford County, Kentucky. At about that time they moved farther west with their son Elijah, Jr.

By 1827, they were in Ralls County, Missouri, and homesteaded land there. Elijah and Mary's son Augustine also migrated to Ralls County, Missouri, in 1829.

*In September 1829, *Elijah Creed Sr, *Elijah Creed, Jr. and his daughter *Sinthey died. A bill for quinine and a $27 doctor's bill in estate records may indicate that they died from Malaria - a common disease. No record is found of Mary (Rucker) Creed's death, but she probably died in Missouri.
