Martha Jane (Patty) Wilson Hughes Uselton ( b approx 1854 KY, died approx 1923, Jack Co, TX)
Excerpt from Edna Tacoma Springer's letter to grandson Kelly Draper (undated, probably written in the 1980's)
"Mammy's maiden name was Martha Jane Wilson. Her father was a druggist in Waco, Texas. He sold all he had during the Civil War and got it all in Confederate money, all in cash. Of course after the war it was worthless. He didn't live long after that."

In September 1990, Jack Hughes told that "Mammy" Martha Jane Wilson taught school at TCU at Waco.

Note from Patsy Brady around 1990 - I have requested a death certificate for Martha Jane Uselton from Austin, Texas twice. First they searched records for Jack County, and second for Archer County. Based on the information furnished, Uselton, Martha Jane, died 1923, the indexes failed to show an entry in that name.
Mary Hughes Spann recalled (about 2003) her mother, Belle Hughes, telling her that "Mammie" Martha Jane Patty Hughes Usselton, had a sister that apparently died somewhere in Oklahoma when the sister and her husband were coming down to Texas. It seems that this sister was buried by the side of the road, according to her husband, and when Patty and Benjamin Usselton lived up near Nocona, they tried to locate the grave but couldn't find it. Mary Spann doesn't remember when or where this sister of "Mammie" Usselton's died.
