Rev Robert Luttrell

Rev. Robert Luttrell was one of the earlest preachers to come into the county of Edmonson and one of the early moderators of the Green River Association. He served from 1881 - 1894, a total of 14 years. Prior to serving this association, he had been moderator of the Barren River Association of Baptists for 2 years. He was elected moderator of the newly organized Edmonson Association in 1894 and served that association for 4 years just prior to his death.

He was born July 15, 1827 in Barren County, Kentucky. He was ordained a deacon by the Concord Church in Barren County, Kentucky in 1860 and licensed to preach the following year. He moved into Edmonson County shortly afterwards and was ordained into the ministry March 4, 1869. Bro. Luttrell kept many records in his own handwriting, many of which are still in the possession of his grandson and their descendants. He died January 23, 1902, aged 74 years and was laid to rest in the family cemetery in Edmonson County. (Taken from the book "Green River Association of United Baptists")
