Death
LANDIS — Mrs. Emma Mathis Davis Furr, 49, of 204 Blackwelder Street, Kannapolis, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Cabarrus Hospital. Death was unexpected. Born March 21, 1919, in Jackson County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Mattie Grifith Mathis. She was educated in the Jackson County schools and was employed at Cannon Mills Co. She was a member of Landis Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Bruce W. Furr; one son, Ralph Samuel Davis of Rockwell; two daughters, Mrs. C. L. Walton of Salisbury and Miss Hilda C. Furr of the home; and one brother, Harry Matis (sic) of Lexington, Ga.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Oceenee Baptist Church in Jefferson County, Ga. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Linn-Honeyeutt Funeral Home in Landis until it is taken to the church in Georgia 30 minutes before the service.
